1-1-8 formation: strenghs and weaknesses

the 1-1-8 formation is a very offensive formation used as one of the first line up in the history of football.

it consists of a goalkeeper, a defender, a midfilder and eight forwards. This formation is characterized by a massive attack and a weak defense, which makes it vulnerable to counterattacks. It can however be effective in maintaining possession of the ball and creating plenty of scoring opportunities.

As we mentioned in the previous article, each formation has strenghs and weaknesses and in this article we will mention the strenghs and weaknesses of 1-1-8 formation.

strenghs:

. Overwhelming attacking force: With eight forwards, the team can put a lot of pressure on the opponent's defense, creating more oppotunities to score goals.

. Increased chance of scoring: With so many players attacking, it can be difficult for the opposing team to keep up with marking all the players, which may lead to more opportunities for goals.

. Possession: With the increased number of players in the opponent's half, the team can maintain possession more easily

weaknesses:

. Weak defense: With only one defender and one midfielder, this formation is highly vulnerable to counterattacks. It can be difficult difficult to defend against a team with a strong attacking force.

. Limited midfield presence: With only one midfielder, it can be chalenging to control the midfiled and transition from defense to attack.

. Fatigue: With so many players in attacking positions, it is likely players will tire quickly. The team will need to have very fit players and effective substitutions to maintain the attacking force throughout the match.
